John Paul Morosi of FOXsports.com covers the Reds and their mindset before the trade deadline in this detailed article. Morossi discusses the Reds need for another arm in the struggling rotation, but coins the Reds as sellers (not buyers) in regards to the pursuit of Ubaldo Jimenez. The money quote: “He’s a pitcher, not a roster mechanic.”
Are the Reds out of contention?
Fans are reluctant to say that they are but Morosi and others believe that they just may be. If Bob Castellini wants to add depth to the rotation, then he may want to think long and hard about the prospects they will be giving up to do so.
