Let’s recap tonight’s titanic struggle….
FINAL
Atlanta 3
Cincinnati 4
W: F. Cordero (4-3)
L: S. Linebrink (3-2)
BOX SCORE
POSITIVES
–Big night for Drew Stubbs, who reached base three times, going 2-4 with a walk and a stolen base…but the big knock was his walkoff homer to win the game.
–No other Red had multiple hits, but Brandon Phillips and Miguel Cairo each homered.
–When Aroldis Chapman is on, he is absolutely unhittable. Chapman got five straight outs tonight and barely broke a sweat.
–Dontrelle Willis pitched pretty well, until Dusty left him in for a batter or two too long (rinse, repeat). Six and a third, three runs allowed, six hits.
NEGATIVES
–Jay Bruce and Miguel Cairo committed errors.
–Nick Masset threw one pitch and gave up a hit.
NOT-SO-RANDOM THOUGHTS
–That’s two wins in a row. Hard to believe, isn’t it?
–Aroldis Chapman is a joy to watch. He’s great…I just wish he were a starter.
–Don’t look now, but the Redlegs are on the biggest roll in more than a month. Hey, you can’t win all of the remaining games without winning the first two.
