Scott Carroll put the Bats in a hole they could never recover from. Carroll allowed 7 runs (5 earned) on 11 hits and 3 walks in just 3.1 innings pitched. With the loss, Carroll’s record dropped to 6-6 on the season and his ERA rose to 4.96.
Yonder Alonso went 2-5 and score a run for the Bats while Paul Janish had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with a double and a run scored. Corky Miller added a homerun in the 2nd inning, his 3rd of the season.

Tennessee 6 – Carolina 2
Quintin Berry, Yasmani Grandal, and Jose Castro each had 2 singles in 4 at-bats in the loss. Castro scored a run. Henry Rodriguez and Neftali Soto each had an RBI.
James Avery’s record fell to 5-9 with the loss. Avery allowed 4 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks in 5.1 innings pitched. He struck out 4.
High A
Bakersfield 6 – Stockton 4
Chris Richburg homered twice in 4 at-bats, scoring twice, and driving in 4 RBI for the Blaze. The second homerun of the game broke a 4-4 tie and proved to be the game winner. The two homeruns now give Richburg 8 on the season. Didi Gregorius homered and added a single in the game. The homerun was Didi’s 5th of the season. Alex Buchholz homered as well, his 6th of the season.
Check out this line for Bakersfield starter Tim Crabbe: 6.1 IP, 2 runs, 4 walks, 10 strikeouts, and 0 HITS. Even though his offense hit 4 homeruns, Crabbe did not pick up a win despite his no hit effort. Reliever Jamie Walczak walked 2 and struck out 1 in his .1 inning of relief. Scott Gaffney blew the Blaze lead by surrendering a 2 run homerun. Gaffney walked 2 and allowed a hit in .2 innings pitched. On the night, Blaze pitching allowed 4 runs to score on 3 hits and 9 walks. They combined to strike out 14.

Donald Lutz went 3-4 with a double and a run scored. Billy Hamilton, Ronald Torreyes, and Dominic D’Anna each collected 2 base hits. Hamilton added his 7th triple of the season and stole his 73rd base while scoring 2 runs in the game. Torreyes had 2 singles, stole a base, and scored 2 runs. D’Anna had 2 singles in the game. All three drove in an RBI.
Daniel Wolford improved to 5-1 on the season by pitching 2.2 scoreless innings of relief. Wolford allowed 3 hits and struck out 2.

Billings 17 – Orem 7
Sammy Diaz led the hit parade by going 3-5 with a homerun. Diaz’s homerun came in the 9th inning and with the bases loaded. It was his first homerun of the season. He ended the game with 2 runs scored and 4 RBI. Nick O’Shea went 2-4 with a homerun, 3 runs scored, and 3 RBI. The homerun was Nick’s 4th of the season. Juan Silva went 2-5 and hit his 2nd homerun of the season while scoring a run and driving in 3. Robert Maddox concluded the long ball fest by hitting his 7th of the season in this game. Maddox finished the night 2-6 with a run scored and 3 RBI.
