Let’s recap tonight’s titanic struggle….

FINAL
Atlanta 6
Cincinnati 4

W: J. Venters (5-1)
L: N. Masset (1-4)
S: C. Kimbrel (31)
BOX SCORE

POSITIVES
–Fred Lewis, Drew Stubbs, and Zack Cozart each homered. Todd Frazier singled for his first major league hit. The Reds only had one other hit. Sigh…

–Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning and a third, and he was next to unhittable. Just brilliant. Chapman made Jason Heyward look flat-out silly.

NEGATIVES
–Bronson Arroyo gave up three homers. He continues to chase Eric Milton.

–The game was tied at four in the ninth when Nick Masset came in and flushed the toilet. He gave up three hits, including the two-run homer that was the difference in the game.

NOT-SO-RANDOM THOUGHTS
–I’ve got nothing for you tonight. This game was just what I’ve come to expect from the 2011 Reds. A completely winnable game, but the Reds found a way to lose it. A frustrating season marches on.

–Atlanta’s Jair Jurrjens is good. Do you know who the Braves traded to get Jurrjens? Yep, Edgar Renteria. Wonder if the Reds can swing a deal like that?

–The teams play again tomorrow. I’m thinking about going to the game, but I’m not sure I can stomach it.
