Let’s recap tonight’s titanic struggle….
FINAL
Cincinnati 0
Pittsburgh 1
W: J. McDonald (6-4)
L: M. Leake (8-5)
S: J. Hanrahan (28)
BOX SCORE
POSITIVES
–Mike Leake was great: 6 IP, one run allowed on two hits. Ryan Hanigan reached base three out of four ABs.
NEGATIVES
–Just a miserable performance by the offense again. Two straight shutouts at the hands of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
–Other than Leake and Hanigan, everyone else on the roster stunk tonight. Every single player and coach stunk.
NOT-SO-RANDOM THOUGHTS
–Reds are three games under .500 for the first time all year. They are five games behind first-place Pittsburgh.
–In the first two games of this series, the Reds have scored zero runs and left 18 runners on base.
–This team is a mess, Scott Rolen is hurt (but won’t be put on the disabled list so that the team can play shorthanded, as usual), and the team is in danger of falling out of the race. More than anything, they just aren’t fun to watch.
Last year’s team was incredible to watch. I never expected this year’s version of the Reds to be such an embarrassment. I’m not having fun. Are you?
