Louisville 4 – Charlotte 2; final 13
Yonder Alonso reached base 4 times in 6 plate appearances, going 2-4 with a double, triple, and 2 walks with a run scored and an RBI. Devin Mesoraco had 2 RBI and went 2-6 at the plate while Todd Frazier also had 2 RBI and went 2-4 with a double. Dave Sappelt added a triple along with a single in 4 at-bats, ending the game 2-4 with 2 walks and 2 runs scored.
Chad Reineke pitched 5 scoreless innings, allowing 4 runs and 2 walks while striking out 3. Brad Boxberger struck out 5 in 2 innings pitched, but allowed a run on a hit in the 7th inning which tied the game at 1-1. Tom Cochran pitched 2 scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win and improve to 7-2 on the season. Nick Christiani allowed a run in the 13th inning but still recorded his 7th save of the season.

Jackson 4 – Carolina 3
Denis Phipps scored a run and drove in an RBI thanks to a 3-5 day at the dish. Neftali Soto had a double and triple in 4 at-bats while scoring a run and driving in an RBI. Quintin Berry ended the game 2-5 with a double and a run scored.
Brandon Hynick pitched well, but came out on the losing end of the game. Hynick allowed 4 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks in 7.1 innings pitched. Hynick struck out 3, but watched his record fall to 1-2.ÂÂ
High A
Bakersfield 13 – High Desert 9
Brodie Greene belted 2 homeruns and added 2 more hits to go 4-5 with 5 RBI and 2 runs scored. Dayne Read went 2-4, hitting his 2nd homerun of the season and scored 2 runs and drove in 2 RBI. Didi Gregorius also hit his 2nd homerun of the season, going 2-5 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Eight of the 9 starters for the Blaze had a hit in this game and all 8 of those guys had at least 2 hits as Bakersfield tallied 20 hits total in the game. All 9 of the starters scored a run.
Curtis Partch used the run support to run his record to 5-10 overall on the season. Partch allowed 4 runs on 9 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings pitched. He struck out 8.
A
Cedar Rapids 5 – Dayton 3
Dominic D’Anna hit his 7th homerun of the season, going 2-4 with 2 runs scored and an RBI. Ronald Torreyes also went 2-4 and scored a run. Donald Lutz drove in 2 RBI, going 1-4 for the game.
Leading 3-2 going to the bottom of the 7th, the Dragons brought in Chad Rogers who blew the lead and the game. Rogers allowed 3 runs on 2 hits and a walk, and failed to record an out, as he fell to 2-4 on the season.
Rookie
Billings 5 – Ogden 4
The first batter of the game for the Mustangs, Kurtis Muller, homered and finished the game 2-4 with 3 runs scored and an RBI. Juan Silva and Drew Poulk each went 2-4 with a double and a run scored.
Matt Leonard pitched a scoreless 9th, and with Billings scoring a run in the 9th, gave Leonard the win. The win improved Leonard’s record to 1-1 on the season.
AZL Indians 10 – AZL Reds 8
Spencer Dickinson drove in 3 RBI while Juan Perez, Jon Matthews, and Julio Morillo had 2 hits each. Perez tripled, drove in an RBI, and scored a run while Matthews and Morillo each scored twice.
Joel Bender was let down by his defense as he allowed 2 unearned runs to drop to 1-2 on the year. Granted, Bender didn’t help himself out much either by allowing 3 hits and walking 2 in 3 innings pitched.
