Daryl Thompson allowed only 1 run on 5 hits in 6 innings pitched. He walked 1 and struck out 6. Unfortunately for Thompson, he received no run support. Jerry Gil and Nick Christiani pitched a scoreless inning each in relief.
Corky Miller reached base 3 times, going 2-3 with a walk and 2 singles. Danny Dorn and Chris Valaika went 2-4 with one of Valaika’s hits being a double.

Jacksonville 9 – Carolina 6
It was a rough go of it for Redleg Nation spotlight player Matt Klinker. Matt allowed 7 runs in the first inning and exited after 4.1 innings. In that span, Matt allowed 8 runs on 11 hits and 2 walks while striking out 3.ÂÂ
Quintin Berry hit his 4th homerun of the season as part of a 2-4 game that saw him drive in 3 RBI and score 2 runs. Jose Castro and Felix Perez each went 2-4 and scored 2 runs. Perez added a triple to his line. Denis Phipps went 2-5 and drove in 2 RBI.
High A
Bakersfield 5 – Stockton 4
Ryan LaMarre hit his 5th homerun of the season as part of a 2-4 night in which LaMarre drove in 2 RBI and scored 2 runs. Brodie Greene, Kevin Coddington, and Dayne Read each went 2-4. All three scored a run while Greene had a triple.
J.C. Sulbaran allowed 4 runs on 9 hits and a walk over 6 innings pitched. Sulbaran struck out 4 but did not factor into the decision. Doug Salinas picked up the win in relief by pitching 2 scoreless innings in which he allowed a hit and struck out a batter. Salinas’ record improved to 3-1 on the season.

Quad City 6 – Dayton 4
The Dragons led comfortably 4-0 entering the bottom of the 7th. They even led 4-1 entering the bottom of the 8th. Reliever Pat Doyle allowed 3 runs on 2 hits and a walk in .2 innings pitched to tie the game up. Drew Hayes then allowed 2 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks while recording only 1 out to blow the save and fall to 1-2 on the season. The loss blew a great start by Daniel Renken. Renken pitched 6 no-hit innings, walking 3, while striking out 7.
David Vidal went 3-4 in the game, scoring twice. Juan Duran and Ronald Torreyes had 2 RBI each.
Rookie
Orem 5 – Billings 3 : Game 1
Devin Lohman, Kyle Waldrop, and Cristobal Rodriguez had 2 hits each. Waldrop hit his 1st homerun of the season in the 2nd inning and Rodriguez also scored a run.
Brooks Pinckard allowed 4 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks in .2 innings of relief to blow the save and drop to 1-1 on the season.
Orem 2 – Billings 1 : Game 2
This game was scoreless until the 9th inning. Ismael Guillon pitched 5 shutout innings, scattering 6 hits and walking 1 while striking out 6. But in the 9th, Matt Leonard allowed 2 runs on 2 hits while recording 2 outs to pick up his first loss of the season.
Adam Muenster had 1 of the 2 Billings hits and he scored the only run of the game for the Mustangs.
AZL Reds 10 – AZL Brewers 6
Jon Matthews had a single and a triple while driving in a team high 4 RBI. Carlos Sanchez went 3-4 with a double, 2 runs scored, and an RBI. Brennan May doubled and went 2-4 with a run scored and 2 RBI.
Daniel Tuttle struck out 10 in 4 innings of relief to pick up the win. Tuttle allowed 3 runs on 6 hits to improve to 3-1 on the season.
