Yonder Alonso and Danny Dorn had 2 hits each. One of Alonso’s hits was a double while Dorn scored a run and had 2 singles. Mike Costanzo went 1-3 with a double and drove in 2 RBI while Todd Frazier also went 1-3 with a double, and he scored twice.
Travis Wood allowed 4 runs on 9 hits and a walk in 5 innings pitched. He struck out 3 and did not factor into the decision. Jordan Smith allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in the 8th inning to pick up the loss, dropping to 0-1 with the Bats on the season.ÂÂ

Jackson 10 – Carolina 7
Neftali Soto hit his 16th homerun of season and went 2-5 overall in the game with 2 runs scored and 3 RBI. Felix Perez hit his 3rd homerun and drove in 2 RBI in 4 at-bats. Denis Phipps, Henry Rodriguez, David Cook, and Jose Castro had 2 hits each for the Mudcats. Phipps had the best night of those 4 by scoring twice and adding a double.
Pedro Villarreal allowed 5 runs on 7 hits and a walk in 4 innings pitched. He struck out 4 and fell to 3-2 overall on the season. James Adkins allowed 4 runs on 4 hits and a walk in an inning of relief. Those 4 runs in the 8th inning put the Mudcats down 10-2. Carolina made an effort to comeback by scoring 5 in the bottom of the 8th, but in the end, it was not enough.
High A
Stockton 6 – Bakersfield 1
Brodie Greene went 2-4 and hit his 5th homerun of the season that accounted for the lone Blaze run in the loss.
Mark Serrano allowed 6 runs in 6.1 innings pitched. The 6 runs were scored on 6 hits, 2 of which were homeruns. Serrano struck out 5, but his record fell to 2-5 with the loss.

Dayton 12 – Quad Cities 8
Yorman Rodriguez hit his 7th homerun of the season in the 1st inning and added 2 more singles in 4 at-bats. He finished the night 3-4 with a run scored and 4 RBI. He reached base 5 times in all thanks to 2 more walks. Ronald Torreyes was a homerun shy of the cycle by going 3-5 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Billy Hamilton scored 3 runs and went 2-5 with 2 singles and a walk. David Vidal scored twice and had 2 doubles in 4 at-bats while Redleg Nation spotlight player Tucker Barnhart went 2-3 with 3 RBI and a run scored.
Rookie
The game between Billings and Orem was postponed. The two teams will play a double header today.
AZL Reds 6 – AZL Indians 2
Gabriel Rosa hit his first homerun of the season, a 2 run shot in the 4th inning. It was Rosa’s only hit of the game. Wagner Gomez went 2-4 and also hit a homerun, his 3rd of the season. Brennan May had 2 singles in 4 at-bats. He scored a run and drove in an RBI.
Justice French improved to 2-1 with the win. French allowed 1 unearned run on 1 hit and a walk while striking out 3 over 5 innings pitched. Alejandro Chacin pitched a scoreless 9th inning, striking out the side, to extend his scoreless streak to 7.1 innings over 6 games this season. Chacin has pitched in 6 games and has struck out 3 batters in each appearance, giving him 18 Ks on the season. On 5 of those 6 occasions, he struck out the side.
