Carolina 6 – Huntsville 2 Game 1

David Cook went 2-4 with a homer, Felix Perez went 2-4, Nefi Soto went 1-2 with a homer (15) and a walk, and Rich Rodriguez went 2-4 with a double. Denis Phipps was 1-4 with a homer.

James Avery got the win, going 5.2 allowing 2 runs on 4 hits, walking 1 and striking out 1. Tim Gustafson got the save, throwing 1.1 hitless/scoreless innings.

Carolina 6 – Huntsville 2 Game 2

Denis Phipps was 3-4 with a double and a homer, Quinton Berry was 2-4 with a homer, and Jake Kahaulelio went 2-4 with a double.

Brandon Hynick got the win, going 5.1, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits, but he walked 3, he did strike out 4. Jon Adkins and Chris Mobley did combine for 1.2 hitless/scoreless innings.

Low A

South Bend 3 – Dayton 2

The Dragons only managed 3 hits in a game that was called after 5 1/2 innings. The Silverhawks scored all three of their runs in the top of the 5th and Dayton’s turn at bat was washed out.

Billy Hamilton went 1-3 and picked up his 65th and 66th SB, but he also committed his 27th error of the season.

Josh Smith threw 5.2, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits, with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts.

Rookie Ball

Billings 5 – Missoula 2

Devin Lohman went 3-5 with 2 doubles, Drew Poulk went 2-4, and Yovan Gonzalez went 2-4 with a double.

The Mustangs used 6 pitchers, Tony Cingrani started and retired all 8 hitters he faced, striking out 4. In 3 games, he’s thrown 6.2 innings, allowing 0 runs and only 2 hits. Ryan Kemp got the win with 2 innings of 1 hit, scoreless relief. Matt Leonard, James Allen, and Brooks Pinckard threw 3 scoreless innings of relief (with Pinckard getting the save).

AZL Reds 7 – AZL Dodgers 2

Jon Matthews went 2-4 with a triple (and a walk), Spencer Dickinson went 2-4 (and a walk), as did Julio Morillo.

Matt Fairel, in his first rehab start, went 2 scoreless innings, only giving up 1 hit and striking out 2. Eliezer Beard got the win in relief, going 5 inning, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits, walking 2 and striking out 10.
