Joey Votto and Brandon Phillips need a final push from fans to get to the 2011 All-Star Game and the Reds are organizing a lunch on Wednesday to make voting easy.
Fans are invited to the Vote Reds All-Star Game Lunch on Wednesday, June 29 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the FOX Sports Ohio Champions Club at Great American Ball Park.
The Reds will provide pizza, soft drinks, laptops and wifi…though fans are encouraged to bring their own laptops.
Reds first baseman Joey Votto is in third place among All-Star vote-getters at his position and second baseman Brandon Phillips sits in second at his position.
Votto trails Milwaukee’s Prince Fielder by 70,727 votes while Phillips is behind Milwaukee’s Rickie Weeks by only 78,397 votes in the final balloting update for the 82nd All-Star Game, to be played on Tuesday, July 12th at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.
The deadline to vote is Thursday at 11:59 p.m. Fans can cast their votes for starters up to 25 times at MLB.com and Reds.com using the 2011 All-Star Game MLB.com Ballot Sponsored by Sprint.
The lunch is hosted by Jamie Ramsey, the Reds assistant media relations director and Better of Red blogger: http://ramsey.mlblogs.com.
Fans can enter the main Crosley Terrace gate on Joe Nuxhall Way and will be directed to the FOX Sports Ohio Champions Club.
A similar lunch was organized last July that contributed to Joey Votto being voted into the 2010 All-Star Game.
