Huge night for Dave Sappelt, going 5-5 with a double and homer. Yonder Alonso went 2-4.

The Bats allowed 5 unearned runs on 3 errors (2 by Valaika (2B), 1 by Francisco (3B)).

LeCure threw 1.2 innings, allowing a run on 2 hits and a walk, striking out 3.

San Jose 3 – Bakersfield 2

Friend of Redleg Nation, Mark Fleury has picked up some playing time lately and is responding (1.039 OPS in last 10 games). He had a 2-3 night last night with a walk. Andrew Means was 2-4.

Walks were the Blaze’s downfall last night, as starter Josh Ravin walked 6 (and gave 3 hits and 2 runs in 3.2 innings) and reliever Tim Crabbe walked 4 (and gave up 1 run on 3 hits, but struck out 7, in 4.1 innings).

Dayton 5 – Ft. Wayne 0 Game 1

Billy Hamilton went 2-4 with a triple and stole his 51st base. Dominic D’Anna went 2-3.

Josh Smith was amazing again, throwing 6 shutout innings, allowing 4 hits and striking out 7, lowering his ERA to 1.59 and his WHIP to .88. For a starter, that is pretty darn outstanding.

Dayton 4 – Ft. Wayne 2 Game 2

Dayton took advantage of 4 Tin Cap errors, which led to all 4 Dragon runs. No one for the Dragons had more than one hit, Billy Hamilton did steal his 52nd base.

Kyle Lotzkar, coming back from arm surgery and in his first appearance for the Dragons since 2008, threw 4 innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits, walked 2 and struck out 8.
