Let’s recap tonight’s titanic struggle….

FINAL
Cincinnati 3
San Francisco 0

W: J. Cueto (3-2)
L: M. Bumgarner (2-8)
S: F. Cordero (12)
BOX SCORE

POSITIVES
–Johnny Cueto turned in another outstanding effort: seven shutout innings, allowing just 4 hits while striking out eight. You can’t ask for much more than that.

–Offensively, Jonny Gomes led the way with a 3-4 day that included the run-scoring single in the fourth inning that gave the Reds a lead they’d never relinquish.

–Nick Masset and Francisco Cordero were simply dominant in relief.

–Joey Votto had a couple of hits, including a double. Brandon Phillips had two hits of his own, plus an RBI. Ramon Hernandez and Scott Rolen doubled.

NEGATIVES
–Cueto didn’t get any hits. He stinks.

NOT-SO-RANDOM THOUGHTS
–The Reds won the first game of a west coast road trip? Really?

–Cueto is now 3-2 with a 1.93 ERA. Just outstanding.

–Great night for the Redlegs, but I’m exhausted. Good night, Nation.
