BOX SCORE
NOT-SO-RANDOM THOUGHTS
–Quick recap tonight (long week for me; I have a day job, you know 🙂 ), but that’s not because the game wasn’t fun. Really nice win by the Reds, and it gives me some hope that the Reds are back on track.
–Bronson Arroyo wasn’t sharp — once again — but he pulled off one of his vintage Bronson starts. He battled, he fought, he scratched, he clawed…and at the end of the night, he had given up one run on five hits in six innings. This is the Bronson we need.
–Scott Rolen had the big hit, a two-run single in the fifth that gave the Reds the margin of victory. Rolen was 2-4 on the night, and we can only hope that he will begin to be a contributor at the plate again.
–Drew Stubbs had a couple of hits. Jay Bruce was 1-2 with two BBs. Paul Janish made one of the best defensive plays of the year.
–The bullpen was great again. Logan Ondrusek, Nick Masset, and Francisco Cordero were almost perfect. I shudder to think where this team would be if the bullpen hadn’t been so great this season.
–Back to back wins! Afternoon game tomorrow, and Johnny Cueto will attempt to win the series for the good guys.
