Let’s recap today’s titanic struggle….

FINAL
Cincinnati 4
Cleveland 5

W: V. Pestano (1-0)
L: B. Bray (1-1)
S: C. Perez (11)
BOXSCORE

POSITIVES
–Jay Bruce had two hits, including a double.

–Paul Janish made two outstanding defensive plays. I wish he could hit, but at least he was hitting ninth in the order today.

NEGATIVES
–Bill Bray gave up a run, which he doesn’t do very often. It turned out to be the winning run for the Indians.

–Jonny Gomes was a surprising choice to hit second in the lineup. He went 0-4 again. Gomes is now hitting .176/.314/.384. That’s Taveras/Patterson territory.

NOT-SO-RANDOM THOUGHTS
–Sigh………

–Travis Wood was great — dominant, even — until he went all Chinua Achebe* in the sixth, giving up four runs. Overall, Wood went 5.2 innings, giving up those four runs on three hits and two walks. He struck out three.

–The Reds took a 4-0 lead with Wood working on a no-hitter into the sixth inning. Gotta win those games, but then, these Indians look an awful lot like the 2010 Reds.

–Gotta get ’em tomorrow, Redlegs.
