Minor League Player of the Day: It was a light night for outstanding performances by the Reds minor leaguers. Dominic D’Anna (Dayton) went 2-4 with a homerun, 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored.
AAA
Rochester 7 – Louisville 6; final 18
Things looked bright for the Bats early who scored 4 runs in the top of the first inning. However, Rochester took a 5-4 lead going to the 8th inning before the Bats regained the lead 6-5. Rochester tied it with a run of their own in the 8th and then the marathon began. Danny Dorn led the Bats with 4 hits in 8 at-bats. He scored a run and drove in a run. Yonder Alonso, batting leadoff, went 3-8 with 2 doubles, 2 RBI, and a run scored. Jeremy Hermida was 3-6 at the plate with 2 walks, a double, a run scored, and an RBI. Todd Frazier went 2-9 with a double and 2 stolen bases.
The Bats used 7 different pitchers in this contest. Dontrelle Willis got the start and allowed 5 runs (3 earned) on 8 hits and 3 walks in 5.2 innings pitched. He struck out 5 and now sports a 2.52 ERA. David Johnson, Jeremy Horst, and Josh Krebs combined to pitch 8 scoreless innings of relief in one stretch and combined to allow just 3 hits, 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts in that span. Daniel Ray Herrera picked up the loss by surrendering a run int he 18th inning after allowing 4 hits in .2 innings pitched.

Carolina 8 – Birmingham 7
Quintin Berry went 2-4 with an RBI, walk, and 2 singles to lead the Mudcats. The Mudcats managed 8 runs on only 6 hits but were walked 7 times. David Cook went 0-2 but scored a run and walked 3 times. Felix Perez and Jake Kahaulelio each had 2 RBI.
Redleg Nation spotlight player Matt Klinker allowed 5 runs on 8 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings pitched. He did not factor into the decision. Ruben Medina allowed 2 runs in an inning of work, but was able to pick up his first win of the season and improve to 1-1 overall.ÂÂ

Dominic D’Anna went 2-4 with a homerun, 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored. The homerun was his 2nd of the season. David Vidal went 2-4 with a double and a run scored. Redleg Nation spotlight player Tucker Barnhart also went 2-4, recording 2 singles.
Josh Smith allowed 4 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits and a walk in 3.1 innings pitched. He struck out 6, but fell to 2-3 on the season with a 1.93 ERA. Pat Doyle allowed a run on 3 hits and a walk in 3.2 innings of relief. Doyle struck out 5 and now has a 1.96 ERA.
