Minor League Player of the Day: Stephen Hunt (Bakersfield) 4-4, 2 doubles, 1BB, 1 Run

Norfolk 4 – Louisville 0; Game 1
Dontrelle Willis had his worst start of the season by allowing 4 runs on 7 hits in 6 innings pitched.  He struck out 10 and walked 1.  Willis is now 2-1 with a 2.10 ERA  in 30 innings pitched.

Yonder Alonso went 1-2 with a walk and a stolen base.  The stolen base was his 4th of the season.

Norfolk 2 – Louisville 1; Game 2
Eric Eyman went 2-3 with a double and Kris Negron went 1-4 with a double and scored the lone Bats run.

Matt Maloney allowed a run on 6 hits and 0 walks while striking out 5 over 5.1 innings pitched.  Jerry Gil picked up his 2nd loss of the season by allowing an unearned run in 1.1 innings pitched.  Gil allowed a hit and struck out 1.  I have bashed Gil for years but must give him a little credit through the early part of the season.  In 10.2 innings pitched, he has only walked 6 and has recorded 13 strikeouts.  His ERA  is 3.38 and he has 3 saves.

Carolina 7 – Montgomery 0
Redleg Nation spotlight player Matt Klinker pitched 5 scoreless innings, allowing 2 hits and walking 2 while striking out 4.  Three Mudcats relievers combined to hold the shutout, scattering 2 hits and walking 1 and striking out 4.

Kevin Coddington and Mike Costanzo each went 2-3 on a night in which every Mudcats player had a base hit.  Costanzo doubled, scored a run, and had an RBI.  Jose Castro doubled and drove in 2 RBI.

Lake Elsinore 6 – Bakersfield 5
Josh Ravin allowed 3 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings pitched.  He struck out 7 and now has a 2.93 ERA.  Mace Thurman blew his 1st save of the season by allowing 2 runs on 3 hits and a walk in .2 innings pitched. 

Stephen Hunt went 4-4 with 2 doubles, a run scored, and a walk.  Hunt is batting .521/.582/.896 in 48 at-bats.  Brodie Greene had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with a run scored.

Bowling Green 6 – Dayton 2; Game 1
David Vidal was 2-4 with 2 singles.  Redleg Nation spotlight player Tucker Barnhart went 1-4 with a double and a run scored.

Daniel Renken struck out 10 but allowed 3 runs on 4 hits in 6 innings to drop to 1-3 on the season. 

Bowling Green 6 – Dayton 0; Game 2
The Dragons offense managed only 2 hits.

Tim Crabbe was roughed up, allowing all 6 runs on 8 hits and 1 walk in 3.2 innings pitched.  He struck out 4.
