Let’s recap tonight’s titanic struggle….

FINAL
Florida 7
Cincinnati 6

W: J. Vazquez (2-2)
L: T. Wood (1-3)
S: L. Nunez (8)
BOXSCORE

POSITIVES
–Carlos Fisher, Jordan Smith, Nick Masset, and Bill Bray tossed 5.2 innings of shutout baseball. The bullpen continues to do the job most nights.

–Jeremy Hermida hit a 3-run homer, his first hit as a Red. Jay Bruce drilled a first-inning homer.

–I guess it’s a “positive” that the Reds really kept digging and almost pulled out a win. This team always fights until the final out. It’s why they are so much fun to watch.

NEGATIVES
–Oh, Travis. Travis Wood was just bad tonight: 3.1 innings, seven runs on eight hits. Five of the runs came in the first, and the Reds never recovered.

–The Reds scored six runs, but I’m not sure how. The offense looked bad for most of the night.

–Bruce struck out looking with the tying run on second, with two outs in the bottom of the ninth.

NOT-SO-RANDOM THOUGHTS
–Reds drop back to .500, and they have to face Josh Johnson tomorrow. I’m frightened.

–I guess it’s because the Reds have been coming back in games like this pretty regularly, but there was never a time tonight that I didn’t think the good guys were gonna come back to win.

–Not much else to say about tonight. It wasn’t a good way to kick off the homestand.
