Games Played on 04/16/11

Minor League Player of the Day: Andrew Means went 5-7 with a home run and a double.

AAA

Indianapolis 7 – Louisville 1

Not much positive for the Bats today, as they have their 8 game winning streak broken. Reds starter, Johnny Cueto in his first rehab start, threw 55 pitches, going 3 1/3 innings allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 2 hits on 2 walks and 4 strikeouts.

AA

Huntsville 8 – Carolina 6

In the first game, making up for yesterday’s rain out, the Cody Puckett went 2-3 with 2 home runs, drove 5 runs and a walk.

Huntsville 3 – Carolina 2

In the nightcap, Jake Kahaulelio had 2 hits and drove in a run.

High A

Inland Empire 24 – Bakersfield 19

Andrew Means went 5-7 with a homer and double, scoring and driving in 2 runs and Eric Campbell went 4-4 with a double and homer, driving in 6 runs, scoring 3 times, and walking once. Henry Rodriguez, Welington Ramirez, and Carlos Mendez all had two hits as the Blaze collected 18 hits on the night.

The Blaze pitching surrendered 24 runs on 31 hits, giving up 10 runs in the 6th and 5 in the 9th. Jake Bowman did throw 1.2 innings of scoreless baseball, allowing 3 hits and 2 walks and striking out two, which I guess is an accomplishment in this type of game.

Low A
