Mike Griffin went 3-4 and Todd Frazier (1), Devin Mesoraco (2), and Kris Negron (1) all homered to give Dontrelle Willis more than enough support as he collected his first win for the Bats (6 IP 3 H 0 R 1 BB 5 K)
AA
Nefi Soto went 2-4 with a double and run scored and catcher Chris McMurray went 2-3 with a walk. Ruben Median (2 IP), Brad Boxberger (1), and Justin Freeman (1) threw 4 scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
High A
Another big game offensively for Bakersfield, led by Brodie Greene (3-4 w/ a D, R, 4 RBI, and a BB). Chris Richburg was 3-5 with a double and 3 RBI, and Ryan LaMarre was 3-4 with a HR and a BB. Means, Fellhauer, Rodriguez, Campbell and Fleury all had 2 hits. Everyone in the lineup had a hit for the Blaze.
JC Sulburan threw 5 innings, allowing 5 hits, 2 earned runs (4 total), and striking out 3.
Visalia scored 6 runs in their final 3 ABs to notch their first win of the season. The Blaze were led offensively again by Josh Fellhauer, who went 2-3 with a HR and a BB, while scoring 2 runs.
Bakersfield committed 4 errors, which allowed 3 unearned runs in the bottom of the 8th. That was the difference in the game.
Low A
Dayton scored 9 runs on 12 hits, let by a 3-4 game by Lutz (HR, 2 R, RBI) and two hits by Rodriguez, D’Anna, Matthews, and Barnhart. Hamilton had 1 hit and 2 steals, taking his season total to 5.
Tuttle only allowed 3 runs in 6 innings, but gave up 4 hits and 3 walks. The bullpen and the fielding were the Dragons undoing.
A problem again today for the Dragons was fielding, as they had 3 errors again. Hamilton had his 3rd error of the season, Crabbe committed a throwing error, and Sierra had his second of the young season.
