Louisville 2 – Toledo 1

The Bats stole 2 runs in the first and made them stand up, as Chad Reineke threw 5 (4 hit, 1 run, 5 strikeouts) innings, followed by 3 scoreless innings by Jeremy Horst (one hit, 2 k’s). Jerry Gil got the save with one inning (one hit, one walk).

Dave Sappelt led the Bats offense, going 3-4, and scoring a run.

AA

Mobile 5 – Carolina 3

The Mudcats stayed winless and continue to struggle offensively. Again tonight no one had more than one hit. The “hitting star” would be Nefi Soto, who went 1-3 with a triple and drove in a run.

High A

Bakersfield 12- Visalla 9

The Blaze scored 12 runs on 18 hits in a winning effort against the Rawhide. They were led by 4-hit nights by Josh Fellhauer and Eric Campbell. Brodie Greene had another good night with 3 hits; Andrew Means, Henry Rodriguez, and Carlos Mendez all had 2 each.

Tyree Hayes contributed 1.2 inning of hitless relief (walking 2, striking out 1).

Dayton 5 – Bowling Green 4

Delino DeShields held a small meeting after yesterday’s game to calm his young squad down and they rewarded him with his first Midwest League win.

The Dragons offense collected 11 hits, and had four players collect two apiece. The offense was led by Juan Duran, who went 2-4 with a triple (which drove in the game winner); Donald Lutz had 2 hits, scoring 2 runs, Jefry Sierra had 2 hits and a stolen base, and Billy Hamilton had another 2-hit night and another stolen base.

The big pitcher for the Dragons was Pat Doyle, who threw 3 scoreless innings of relief to get the win, giving up 2 hits, while striking out 4.
