I see that MLB 11: The Show is out for all your favorite console gaming systems (actually, it’s only on PlayStation, but I’m not sure why anyone would own another system). It’s always a fun game and, though I haven’t played the latest iteration, I’m sure I will check it out at some point.

Okay, why is Chad talking about video games? An excellent question.

One of the best features of recent baseball video games is the franchise mode. It’s the reason games from Strat-O-Matic to OOTP have been popular for years. We like picking rosters and setting lineups.

With that in mind, here’s the lineups I’d pick for the Reds. (First: up-down-up-down-left-right-left-right-B-A-start.)

vs. RHP
Fred Lewis LF
Scott Rolen 3B
Joey Votto 1B
Jay Bruce RF
Drew Stubbs CF
Brandon Phillips 2B
Ryan Hanigan C
Paul Janish SS
Jose Rijo P

vs. LHP
Stubbs CF
Hanigan C
Votto 1B
Bruce RF
Rolen 3B
Chris Heisey LF
Phillips 2B
Janish SS
Mario Soto P

I could be talked into Jonny Gomes in place of Heisey, and Hanigan is interchangable with Ramon Hernandez (except that I’d switch Hernandez and Heisey in the order against lefties).

Okay, tell me how wrong I am.
