Cincinnati Reds starter, Johnny Cueto, was forced to leave his Friday start early due to tightness in his right forearm. Cueto was scheduled to throw 4 innings Friday, but came out of the game after his second inning of work.

“He has some tightness in his mid-forearm,” head trainer Paul Lessard said. “It’s not his elbow, which we were happy about. He just felt like he couldn’t loosen up when he was pitching. We said instead of keeping to send him out there, why not just sit him down so it doesn’t turn into anything.”

Other items worth noting from spring training:

–Outfielder Dave Sappelt led off in Friday’s game against the Rangers and collected 2 more hits in 3 at-bats, pushing his spring batting average to .524.

–Mark Sheldon has a nice piece featured on on catching prospect Devin Mesoraco.

–The Reds have split-squad games today against the Chicago Cubs. Each game will be broadcast via either TV or radio. The 3:05pm game will be on 700 WLW and feature a pitching matchup of Homer Bailey and Carlos Silva. Mike Leake and James Russell are the scheduled starters for the 4:05pm game on FSN Ohio.
