I ran across this article today, and while it is about the ACC basketball tourney and its fans, I believe the premise is also applicable to the Reds situation (i.e. attendance, televised games, etc).

Do you think the fact that well over 90% of the Reds games will be televised this year will hurt their attendance?

I’m a fan and when I was a kid, I used to attend 10-20 games a year. Now it’s more like 2-5. In addition to having to get up early for work the next day, there are the additional hassles of the 30-40 minute drive to and from the ballpark, parking, cost, etc. (Plus I have partial season tickets for the Dragons.)

Watching a game from the comfort of my family room definitely has its advantages. How many people do you think are like me and, rather than going to 5-10 games a season, watch on tv and only attend 2-5?

I wonder about the financial implications of the Reds televising more games vs. selling more tickets? What are the long-term ramifications of this?

What do you think?
