I know you are all excited about the impending return of RHP Justin Lehr. Okay, I’m going to lay off the sarcasm; Lehr has almost no chance of being a productive member of the Reds, but he’s one of our favorites nonetheless.
(It should, however, be noted that my phone’s autocorrect function keeps changing “Lehr” to “Legend.” He’s a legend in my phone’s mind, anyway.)
The 90-year old Lehr, of course, is making his return from Tommy John surgery. We have been speculating for some time that Lehr would make a good pitching coach, ever since he taught young Homer Bailey a split-finger fastball and was a good mentor for a young Louisville pitching staff. What’s interesting about the article linked above is that GM Walt Jocketty mentions that possibility out loud. It’s a good idea.
