It appears that the final pending arbitration-eligible player has been signed:
A signed deal has yet to be formally announced with Reds pitcher Edinson Volquez, but the two sides have come to terms on a one-year deal.
ESPN Deportes reported Saturday that the deal would likely be for $1.6 million to avoid arbitration. Reds general manager Walt Jocketty had originally hoped to sign Volquez to a multiyear contract — like he had with several others this winter — but he wasn’t disappointed.
Jocketty has indicated that the Reds will continue to discuss a multi-year extension with Volquez.
Personally, I’m glad to see the Reds finalize this deal and get it out of the way. Now…on to spring training!
