This is…interesting:

Still hoping for another shot at being a productive pitcher in the big leagues, Dontrelle Willis signed a Minor League contract with the Reds on Monday.

Willis’ deal includes an invitation to Spring Training, and because of the depth of Cincinnati’s starting rotation, he’s going to try to pitch out of the bullpen.

“He knows that he needs to rebuild his value,” said Willis’ agent, Matt Sosnick.

“He’s probably going to pitch in relief, and I think he’s comfortable with that.”

No risk here, so I can’t argue. Should be interesting to see if Willis can recapture some of his previous form. He’s been brutal for a while.

Good luck, (pitching coach) Bryan Price.
