Let’s recap today’s titanic struggle….

FINAL
Cincinnati 3
Houston 4

WP: Myers (13-7)
LP: Wood (5-4)
S: Lyons (18)
BOX SCORE

POSITIVES
–Joey Votto was 3-5 with two doubles. Jonny Gomes had a couple of hits. Ramon Hernandez was 2-4 with a two-run homer in the eighth that brought the Reds within one run.

–Not a bad outing by Travis Wood, who gave up two earned runs on four hits in six innings. He struck out five and didn’t walk a batter.

NEGATIVES
–Two errors, one of which led to an unearned run. Sloppy.

NOT-SO-RANDOM THOUGHTS
–Not a good day, but the Reds still had a chance to win in the ninth. Unfortunately, Votto couldn’t get the job done with two outs and two runners on. Votto stinks.*

–It’s time for the Reds to right the ship, and they’ve been showing some encouraging signs of that. Unfortunately, the Reds lost another series, and that’s becoming a recurring thing. On to Milwaukee, where better things await. I hope.
