You may have heard by now, but Rob Neyer recently asked Redleg Nation to join the SweetSpot network of blogs over at ESPN.com. They have one blog for each team over there, and we’re happy to provide the Cincinnati Reds analysis (if that’s what you can call the nonsense we publish here day after day).
I’ve been reading Neyer since my last year of college; he was the primary influence in introducing me to the value of sabermetric analysis. We are happy with the opportunity to join Neyer’s network, and we’re looking forward to contributing on some things at ESPN.com (the power rankings, for example). Things here, however, are going to continue as they have been. Yes, you can expect the same goofy posts, ridiculous photoshops, and the same lame headlines (like the one above, for example). Sorry about that.
I have to admit that I’m dismayed that ESPN.com’s lowered their standards so much in this case. It’s kinda like the old Groucho Marx joke: I’m not sure if I want to join a club that would have someone like me as a member.
