BOX SCORE
Some quick thoughts before I go to bed…
–That was fun.
–I said early that I thought the Reds were going to score some runs tonight. I was correct, as I always am.
–After the D’backs put up four in the 5th inning, and then two in the 7th, a lot of people thought the Reds were finished. What? A 7-3 deficit means nothing to the 2010 Reds. They proceeded to score four in the eighth and four in the ninth innings.
–No Joey Votto? No matter. Reds had 18 hits.
–Offensive stars: Jay Bruce (4-5, HR, 2B, 3 R, 2 RBI), Ramon Hernandez (3-4, 2B), Paul Janish (2-4), Brandon Phillips (two doubles), Jim Edmonds (2-5 with his first Reds homer).
–The Reds converted another suicide squeeze, their third in the last three weeks. Tonight, it was pinch-hitter Chris Heisey doing the trick, scoring Edmonds with the go-ahead run.
–Do you realize the Reds only have to play .500 baseball the rest of the season to win 90 games?
–That’s five straight wins since the St. Louis debacle. It’s six straight road victories. The Reds are now three games up in the National League Central.
–I’m going to bed happy. Very happy.
