Dave Sappelt and Chris Valaika had 3 hits each for the Bats.  Sappelt went 3-5 with 3 singles and an RBI while Valaika went 3-4 with 2 singles, a double, an RBI, and a run scored.  Corky Miller added 2 hits in 4 at-bats with a walk.

Aaron Harang’s first rehab start did not go well as he allowed 5 runs in 5 innings on 5 hits and 2 walks.  He struck out 5.  All 5 runs were scored in the first 2 innings.  Aroldis Chapman and Daniel Ray Herrera each pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

Jacksonville 1 – Carolina 0; final 5
Scott Carroll gave up a run on 5 hits in 4 innings pitched and picked up the loss.  He didn’t walk a batter and struck out 3.

The Mudcats offense did not manage a single hit in the shortened game.  Does Jacksonville’s starter get credited with a no-hitter in this case?

Lynchburg 6 – Kinston 4
Cody Puckett went 2-4 and hit his 13th homerun of the season.  Jordan Wideman and Chris Richburg also went 2-4 in the game.  Wideman had 2 singles while Richburg had a single and a double, scored a run, and drove in an RBI.

Daniel Guerrero pitched 3 innings in relief and picked up the win to improve to 1-1 on the season.  Guerrero allowed 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 4.  Donnie Joseph struck out 2 in a scoreless 9th inning to record his 16th save of the season with the Hillcats.

Lake County 5 – Dayton 2
Didi Gregorius was the only Dragon with 2 hits as he managed 2 singles in 4 at-bats.  Frank Pfister’s 2 run homer in the 2nd inning supplied the scoring for the Dragons.  Pfister’s homerun was his 7th of the season.

Ricky Bowen fell to 2-8 with the loss.  Bowen allowed 4 runs on 11 hits and a walk in his 5 innings pitched.  Tzu-Kai Chiu allowed an unearned run in his 3 innings of relief.  He scattered 3 hits and struck out 2.

The Billings Mustangs had a scheduled off-day on Sunday.

AZL Reds 7 – AZL Dodgers 4
Miguel Rojas went 3-4 with 3 singles, a run scored, and an RBI.  Kyle Waldrop, Jaren Matthews, Yovan Gonzalez, and Juan Silva each went 2-5 in the game and combined to score 4 runs.

Jose Marizan pitched 2.1 scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win and improve to 2-0 on the season.  Joel Ernst recorded his 3rd save by pitching a scoreless 8th and 9th inning.
