Let’s recap today’s titanic struggle….

Cincinnati 3
Chicago 0
WP: Arroyo (12-6)
LP: Gorzellany (6-6)
S: Cordero (30)

–Bronson Arroyo was just dealing today: seven innings, five hits, no runs, seven strikeouts and just one walk. He’s now 12-6 with a 3.83 ERA. Not bad at all.

–Scott Rolen was the only Red with two hits, but Ryan Hanigan had the big blow, a two-run homer in the second inning that handed Cincinnati the lead.

–Great defense today, especially by Rolen and Paul Janish. Also, though he scared us yet again in the bottom of the ninth, Francisco Cordero made an fantastic defensive play for the 27th out.

–Arthur Rhodes pitched a perfect inning. This is not a recording.

–Good grief, I love beating the stupid Cubs.

–Reds are now 14 games over .500 for the first time all season. They remain in first place for at least one more day.

–When was the last time the Reds were at least 14 games over .500? The last day of the 1999 season.
