Minor League Player of the Day: Zack Cozart (Louisville Bats) 3-5, 2 doubles, HR, 1 Run, 1 RBI

Four Louisville homeruns helped blast the Bats past the Braves.  Zack Cozart went 3-5 with 2 doubles, a homerun, an rbi, and a run scored.  The homerun was Cozart’s 15th of the season.  Juan Francisco was also 3-5 in the game and also hit his 15th homerun of the season.  Francisco also had a double, 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored.  Danny Dorn hit his 7th homerun of the season and had a double in 5 at-bats.  He scored twice and drove in 2 RBI.  Finally, Mr. Mustache himself homered for the 5th time with Louisville.  Miller ended the game 2-3 with a run scored and 2 RBI.
Some Reds pitcher named Micah Owings made the start for the Bats in this game.  Micah allowed 1 run on 1 hit and 3 walks while striking out 1 in 3 innings pitched.  Jason Isringhausen pitched an inning of relief, allowing a run on a hit and a walk with 1 strikeout.  Redleg Nation’s spotlight player Matt Klinker picked up the save in this game.  Matt pitched 3 innings of relief, allowing 1 run on 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 2.  Enerio Del Rosario picked up the win with 2 scoreless innings of relief.

Dave Sappelt went 2-4 with 2 singles and 3 RBI to help the Mudcats get the win.  In 272 at-bats in Carolina, Dave is batting .352/.399/.527 with 7 homeruns and 49 RBI.  Felix Perez just keeps on hitting, regardless of what level he is at.  Perez went 3-5 with a double, 2 runs scored, and a stolen base.  In 173 at-bats over 3 levels, Perez is now batting .376/.432/.509.  Luis Terrero and  Mike Costanzo each added 2 hits.
Scott Carroll improved to 3-5 on the season with the win.  Carroll allowed 1 run on 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4 in 6 innings pitched.
High A
Denis Phipps went 2-2 with an RBI and 2 walks.  He also stole a base and is batting a ridiculous .425/.489/.900 in 40 at-bats with Lynchburgh.
Jordan Hotchkiss improved to 7-3 on the season with the win.  He allowed 4 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks while striking out 2.  Justin Freeman pitched a scoreless 9th to pick up his 7th save.

Quad City 8 – Dayton 5; final 16 innings
Ryan LaMarre went 3-8 with 3 singles.  Mark Fleury and Frank Pfister had 2 RBI each.
Jamie Walczak picked up the loss by allowing a run on 3 hits and 5 walks in 4.1 innings of relief.  He struck out 5.
Rookie
Billy Hamilton went 2-5 with an RBI and a run scored.  He also stole 2 bases, giving him 14 steals on the season.  Yorman Rodriguez hit his 2nd homerun of the season, going 2-4 with 2 RBI and a run scored.  Jefry Sierra was 2-4 with a triple, run scored, and his 11th stolen base of the season.
Stalin Gerson struck out 5 in 6 innings, allowing only 1 run on 5 hits.  However Josh Smith picked up the win in relief by allowing 1 run on 2 hits in 3 innings pitched, striking out 4.
The AZL Reds did not play on Sunday.
