From John Fay:

The Reds will address manager Dusty Baker’s contract situation in early August.

Baker is in the final year of a three-year deal. He’s made it clear that he would like an extension.

“I didn’t come here to leave,” he said. “You’ve got to agree weve made progress.”

Baker said CEO Bob Castellini spoke to him about the matter recently.

“Mr. Castellini told me we’d talk about it after the trade deadline,” Baker said.

The non-waiver trade deadline is July 31.

Castellini declined comment when asked about Baker’s situation the other day.

He’s coming back…if they weren’t going to bring him back, why would you talk before the end of the season?
