From John Fay:

Gary Matthews Jr. can opt out of his contract if he’s not in the major leagues by July 24. Matthews is hitting .310/.355/.494 after 87 at-bats in Triple-A Louisville. But it’s no lock that he’ll be called up.

“We’re still evaluating him,” Walt Jocketty said. “We sent someone down there to look at him this week.”

Matthews, 35, is a switch-hitter who can play any of the three outfield positions. Matthews hit .190 in 56 at-bats this year before being released by the Mets. He’s a .257 hitter over 12 big league seasons.

So, think he’ll opt out and go elsewhere?
