Wladimir Balentien went 2-4 and scored a run while Zach Cozart hit his 12th homerun of the season in a 1-5 game.  Danny Dorn went 1-3 with a homerun and a walk.  He drove in a run and scored 2.  The homerun was Dorn’s 6th of the season.
James Avery made his first start of the season for Louisville in this contest.  He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits in 6 innings of work.  He struck out 4 and did not walk a batter.  In Carolina, Avery was 4-3 with a 3.40 ERA in 9 starts and 45.0 innings pitched.ÂÂ

The Carolina Mudcats started their All-Star break on Sunday.  The Mudcats will not play again until Wednesday.
High A
The Hillcats scored 5 runs in the first inning and then held on for the victory.  Carlos Mendez reached base 4 times, going 3-3 with a walk.  He also scored a run.  Josh Fellhauer had 2 hits, both singles, in 5 at-bats. ÂÂ
Jeff Jeffords picked up the win in relief and improved to 2-0.  Jeffords pitched 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing no hits while walking 1 and striking out 3.  Donnie Joseph recorded his 7th save of the season for Lynchburg by pitching a scoreless 9th inning.  Joseph walked 1 and struck out 3.  On the season with Dayton and Lynchburg, Joseph is 2-3 with 13 saves.  He has allowed only 5 earned runs in 43.1 innings over both levels for an ERA of 1.04.  He has 76 strikeouts compared to only 13 walks.

Alex Oliveras hit his 3rd homerun of the season and provided all of the scoring for the Dragons on a night in which Dayton managed only 4 base hits.
J.C. Sulbaran fell to 4-5 on the season with the loss.  Sulbaran allowed 3 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks while striking out 7 in 6 innings pitched.  Blair Carson pitched 3 scorless innings in relief, allowing only 1 base hit.  Carson is 3-3 on the season with a 2.22 ERA in 48.2 innings pitched with the Dragons. ÂÂ
Rookie
Donald Lutz went 1-2 and had a walk and a double. He also scored a run and drove in 2 RBI.  The Mustangs capitalized on 3 Helena errors.  Billings scored 9 runs but only had 6 base hits.  Juan Duran went  2-4 with a double, run scored, 3 RBI, and a stolen base
Silva, our player of the day, belted his 2nd homerun of the season in the losing effort.  He was the only Reds player with at least 2 hits.
Starting pitcher Jonathon Correa was hurt by the 3 Reds errors as he allowed 4 runs though only 1 was earned.  He pitched 5 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks while striking out 3.
