Indianapolis 9 – Louisville 7

Despite hitting 4 homeruns, and having the first 6 batters in the lineup record 2 hits each, the Bats still fell short.  Gary Matthews Jr, Ryan Hannigan, Yonder Alonso, Todd Frazier, and Juan Francisco each went 2-5 in the game.  Matthews and Alonso hit homeruns in the 9th inning while Juan Francisco belted 2 homeruns.  Also something of note, Ryan Hannigan was batting 2nd in the Bats lineup.  Wow, what a concept!   Daniel Dorn was the final player with 2 hits, going 2-3 with a double and a run scored.  Each of the first 6 batters in the lineup scored a run, with Francisco obviously scoring twice.

Carolina 9 – Chattanooga 1

Matt Fairel improved to 3-3 after allowing only 1 run on 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4.  Fairel’s ERA is still a lofty 5.31 with Carolina.

Kris Negron had a double and a triple in 5 at-bats and drove in 3 RBI.  Sean Henry had 2 singles and a double in 5 at-bats.  He also scored a run and drove in 2.  Henry is now batting .303 on the season.  Dave Sappelt raised his average to .327 on the season thanks to a 3-5 game.  Sappelt also scored a run on top of his 3 singles.  Carlos Mendez singled and tripled in 5 at-bats as well as driving in 2 RBI and scoring 2 runs.

Dayton 7 – West Michigan 3

Ryan LaMarre raised his OBP to .388 in 73 at-bats with his 4-5 game.  Alex Oliveras had 2 singles and a double and drove in 3 RBI.  Didi Gregorius and Chase Weems had 2 singles each .

J.C. Sulbaran allowed 3 runs (2 earned) on 3 hits and 3 walks in 7 innings pitched.  He struck out 4 and improved his record to 4-4 on the season.

Rookie

Great Falls 7 – Billings 6; Game 1

Juan Duran went 2-4 and hit his 2nd homerun of the season.  Duran scored twice and drove in 3 RBI.  Billy Hamilton, last year’s 2nd round pick, also went 2-4. Hamilton had 2 singles and scored a run.

Billings 5 – Great Falls 3; Game 2

Trey Manz went 3-4 with a homerun, single, double, 2 runs scored and 3 RBI.  Manz is batting .310/.341/.571 in his first 42 at-bats this season.  The homerun was his 2nd of the season.  Jonathon Kaskow had 1 hit in 2 at-bats, but made it his 3rd homerun of the season. Kaskow had 2 RBI in the game.

Daniel Tuttle improved to 3-1 in 4 starts by allowing 3 runs on 4 hits and a walk while striking out 3.  Tuttle’s ERA is now 3.43 with 9 BB and 17 Ks in 21.0 innings pitched.

AZL Rangers 9 – AZL Reds 4

Kurtis Muller was 2-5 with an RBI while William Harford went 2-3 with a single and double, 2 runs scored, and an RBI.
