Louisville 4 – Indianapolis 2

Edinson Volquez threw 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks to improve to 2-0 with the Bats.  Volquez struck out 4 and threw 87 pitches (46 for strikes).  Enerio Del Rosario and Jared Burton combined to throw 4 scoreless innings of relief, allowing one hit and walking 2 while striking out 4.  Burton picked up his first save of the season.

Ryan Hanigan and Gary Matthews Jr. each went 2-4.  Todd Frazier went 1-4 with a double and 2 RBI.

AA

Chattanooga 8 – Carolina 4

Scott Carroll fell to 1-4 with the Mudcats with the loss.  Carroll allowed 6 runs on 9 hits and a walk in 5 innings pitched.  Carroll struck out 3.  He still sports a 2.96 ERA in 54.2 innings pitched with Carolina.

High A

Winston-Salem 6 – Lynchburg 4

Felix Perez went 4-5 with a double, run scored, and an RBI.  Neftali Soto hit his 10th homerun of the season and added  a double in 5 at-bats.  He drove in 3 RBI, giving him 46 on the season.  Cody Puckett (single and double), Josh Fellhauer (2 singles), and Kevin Coddington (2 singles) had 2 hits each.  The Hillcats lineup struck out a combined 12 times in the game.

Brandon Ware threw 2.1 scoreless innings.  On the season, Ware has pitched 56 innings with Dayton and Lynchburg and has allowed 10 earned runs for an ERA of 1.61.

Dayton 6 – West Michigan 4

Henry Rodriguez had 4 singles in 5 at-bats to raise his average to .289 on the season.  Mark Fleury went 3-4 with 2 doubles and a single.  He scored a run and had 2 RBI.  Chris Richburg had only 1 hit in 5 at-bats, but made it his 12th homerun of the season.  With 2 RBI, Richburg now has 45 on the season.

Rookie

Great Falls 7 – Billings 6

Theo Bowe, Oliver Santos, and Tucker Barnhart had 2 hits each.  Bowe and Barnhart combined for 4 singles with Barnhart scoring a run and driving in a run.  Santos had a double and a triple, scored a run, and drove in 2 RBI.

Clayton Schunick, the Reds 5th round pick in ’08, allowed 6 runs on 5 hits in just 2 innings pitched.

AZL Reds 9 – AZL A’s 3

Dominic D’Anna went 2-4 with 2 doubles, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI.  In 38 at-bats thus far, D’Anna is batting .500/.620/.737.  Sean Conner was 2-4 with a run scored and an rbi while Adam Muenster was 2-4 with a double and an rbi.

Michael Henry pitched 3 innings of relief to pick up the win.  Henry allowed 1 run on 1 hit and a walk while striking out 4.
