The Louisville Courier-Journal reports today that Louisville Bats players Chris Valaika and Travis Wood were named to the International League roster for the AAA all-star game to be played versus the Pacific Coast League All-Star team on July 14 in Allentown, Pa.
Second baseman Valaika is batting .295 with 18 doubles and 27 rbi. His 2010 OPS is .696 with Louisville. Valaika, age 25, is in his fifth minor league season. Starting pitcher Wood, age 23, is in his sixth minor league season. With Louisville, Wood is 5-6 with a 3.12 ERA and 1.082 WHIP this season. Wood was recently recalled by the Reds and made his major league debut against the Cubs on July 1, going seven innings and allowing two runs on two hits and three walks, but receiving no decision.
