Minor League Player of the Day: Chad Reineke (Louisville): 8 innings pitched, 2 runs, 6 hits, 1 walk, 2 strikeouts, WIN

AAA

Louisville 3 – Toledo 2

Zach Cozart and Chris Valaika had 2 hits each while Yonder Alonso and Todd Frazier each homered.  For Yonder, the blast was his 3rd with Louisville (6th total of the season) and for Frazier it was his 8th with the Bats.

Chad Reineke picked up the win to improve to 4-5 on the season.  Bill Bray’s return remains perfect thus far and he picked up his first save of the season.  Bray pitched a hitless, scoreless 9th, striking out 2.

AA

Tennessee 4 – Carolina 3

What does Redleg Nation’s Spotlight player Matt Klinker have to do to beat Tennessee?  Chad and I watched him pitched last month against Tennessee when the bullpen blew the win on that night, and yet again, the bullpen blows the win.  Matt pitched 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits and a walk while striking out 2.  Matt’s ERA is now 1.79 in 75.1 innings in Double-A.  Lee Tabor entered the game in the 7th and allowed 2 runs on 2 hits which tied the game at 3-3 and ended Matt’s chances at a win.  My favorite reliever (sarcasm) Jerry Gil then entered and lost the game.  Gil gave up a run on a hit and his customary 2 walks to pick up the loss.  Gil has 37 walks in 36 innings pitched.

High A

All-Star Break for Lynchburg.

A

All-Star Break for Dayton.

Rookie League

Billings 2 – Great Falls 2 ; suspended after 12

I am not really sure if weather or something else occurred in order to suspend this game after 12 innings of play.  SS Devin Lohman went 2-5 and had two of the Mustangs five hits.  Billy Hamilton (Reds #2 in 2009) went 1-4 with a walk and two strikeouts.

The pitching of Daniel Corcino (undrafted 2008), Tzu-Kai Chiu (non-drafted 2007), James Walczak (15th round 2009), and Porfirio Martinez (non-drafted 2007) combined to pitched 12 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits and 7 walks while striking out 10.

AZL Dodgers 9 – AZL Reds 8

Junior Arias (non-drafted 2009) went 3-5 with a double, two singles, a run scored, and 3 RBI.  Robert Maddox went 2-4 with a double, triple, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI.
