Let’s recap tonight’s titanic struggle….

Kansas City 7
Cincinnati 3
WP: Zack Greinke (2-8)
LP: Sam LeCure (1-3)

— Reds got off to a good start, with 2 runs from the first three hitters.

— Joey Votto’s 2 homers. One to LF in the 1st, one crushed to RF in the 9th.

— Sam LeCure pitched better than his numbers indicate. He threw 6 2/3 and came out and the bullpen threw gasoline on the first, all his runners scoring.

— After those first inning runs, the Reds didn’t do much the rest of the day.

— Reds make Greinke look very, very good. He only threw 104 pitches while striking out 12.

— Stubbs was 0-3 with 3 K’s and Gomes was 0-4 with 3 K’s. I don’t think either one got a loud foul all day.

— The bullpen..period.

— I don’t understand having 2 regulars out of the lineup (and it always seems to be on Sunday when Dusty does this)..if Phillips couldn’t go b/c of a hammy, then Rolen should have played. They’re off tomorrow, why couldn’t he play?

— Why have Cairo playing 3B and Janish 2B? Cairo has exponentially more games at 2B than 3B in his career. Just another Dusty decision I don’t understand.

— TBPS* Something has to be done. There are pitchers in that bullpen (Hererra & Masset especially) that just seem to NEVER be able to get the out you need. I don’t know what the answer is, but you can’t keep running them out there and letting them fail.
