23 year-old Travis Wood tossed a gem, throwing 7 scoreless innings. Wood, a 2nd round pick in 2005, gave up only 3 H, and a BB while striking out 8. Wood now has a 3.77 with 71 Ks in 76.1 IP.
24 year-old Chris Valaika went 2-3 with a 2B, R, BB and 2 RBI. Valaika is hitting .313/.348/.396 at AAA Louisville this year, but in his last 10 games he is hitting .405/.415/.514.
23 year-old Yonder Alonso went 2-4 with 2 R, a 2B, and a BB. Since being promoted to Louisville the former first round pick from Miami is hitting just .221/.276/.336 in 121 PAs. In Carolina he hit .267/.388/.406 in 120 PAs.
24 year-old Todd Frazier went 2-4 with a BB, 2B, and an RBI. Frazier is now hitting .229/.301/.410 and has a 7 game hitting streak.
21 year old Devin Mesoraco went 1-4 with a 2B, and a R. Mesoraco the former first round pick has had a rough time since his promotion to Carolina. He is hitting just .176/.237/.412 in 35 PAs. Keep in mind, however, he was hitting a robust .335/.414/.620 in 177 PAs at Lynchburg. He will be 22 in 8 days. 23 year-old Cody Puckett went 2-4 with a 2B, and a 3B. Puckett, playng right field last night, is now hitting .276/.351/.523.
27 year-old Bill Bray is proving the difference between A+ and the Majors. He tossed a scoreless inning striking out 3. In 4 IP at Lynchburg he has given up 1 H, 1 BB, and has 8 Ks.
23 year-old Cameron Satterwhite went 4-5 with a 2B and 2 RBI. Satterwhite is doing what a 23-year old should do at LOW A, he is hitting the ball often. In 70 PAs he is hitting .358/.394/.507.
