Minor League Player of the Day: Chris Valaika (Louisville) 3-4, 2 singles, 1 double


Pawtucket 7 – Louisville 2

Chris Valaika bumped his average to .306 on the season thanks to a 3-4 game.  Valaika had 2 singles and a double.  Todd Frazier and Wilken Castillo each had 2-4 games.  All four hits were singles and Castillo drove in a run.  Yonder Alonso hit his 2nd homerun of the season with Louisville.  The homerun was his only hit of the night.

Aroldis Chapman had his worst outing of the season in this loss.  Chapman allowed 7 runs on 6 hits and 6 walks in just 2 innings pitched.  He struck out only 1.


Chattanooga 3 – Carolina 0

Jake Kahaulelio had a double and a single in 4 at-bats.

Scott Carroll allowed 2 unearned runs in 7 innings pitched to drop to 1-2 on the season. Carroll allowed 3 hits and walked 4 while striking out 2.

Salem 5 – Lynchburg 4

Alex Buchholz went 2-3 with a homerun, run scored, and RBI.  The homerun was his 4th of the season.  Miguel Rojas was also 2-3 with 2 singles and an RBI.

Bill Bray pitched 2 scoreless, hitless innings of relief.  Bray didn’t walk allow a baserunner and struck out 4.  Let’s hope Bray can stay healthy and get back to Cincinnati in a hurry!
