According to John Fay, Homer Bailey is feeling good and wants to start on Tuesday, when he’s eligible to come off the disabled list. Dusty Baker, however, appears to want Bailey to marinate a little before he returns. We’ll see what happens.
Meanwhile, Edinson Volquez pitched an inning against the White Sox in extended spring training, hitting 94 on the radar gun:
Baker wasn’t surprised to hear Edinson Volquez threw 94 mph in a extended spring training game.
“He was throwing that hard in his bullpens,†Baker said.
Volquez, rehabbing from “Tommy John†surgery, is getting ready as a starter.
“John Smoltz did great in the bullpen after “Tommy John,†Baker said. “But he thought it was easier to start. In the bullpen, you have to get up and down. When you start, you know how to warm up.â€Â
Volquez is expected to be ready in mid to late July.
Make of that what you will….
