According to John Fay, Homer Bailey has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with shoulder inflammation. The Reds called up reliever Enerio Del Rosario from Triple-A Louisville.

This will likely be a short stay in Cincinnati for Del Rosario, but I’m looking forward to watching the guy pitch. I expect the Reds to make a roster move in advance of Homer’s next scheduled start to bring a starting pitcher up. My money is on Travis Wood, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Matt Maloney.

The only good news about all this is that Louisville is going to be a couple arms short during the next trip through their rotation (remember, Aroldis Chapman is going to miss a start due to a blister on his pitching hand). That should mean that Redleg Nation Spotlight Player Matt Klinker will get a call up to AAA. He has nothing left to prove in AA, after all (4-3 record, 1.63 ERA, .98 WHIP).
