Let’s recap today’s titanic struggle….
FINAL
Cincinnati 4
Atlanta 5
WP: Wagner (4-0)
LP: Masset (3-2)
BOX SCORE
POSITIVES
–Biggest positive: the Reds kept fighting and fighting and fighting. After being down 4-0 for much of the game, they kept battling, pulling to within a run in the eighth before…
—Chris Heisey led off the ninth with a pinch-hit homer that tied the game.
–Nice outings by Micah Owings and Arthur Rhodes. Scott Rolen was 3-5, with two doubles and two RBI. Joey Votto had a couple of hits again.
NEGATIVES
–Nick Masset blew it. He’s been good lately, but the Reds needed him tonight and he couldn’t come through.
–Jay Bruce was 0-5 with three strikeouts and 79 runners left on base.
ETC.
–Yes, they lost, but it wasn’t one of those discouraging losses. They can’t win them all.
–Aaron Harang was the same old Harang that we’ve seen of late. He pitched okay for much of his outing, but a few bad pitches ruined the night.
–Afternoon affair tomorrow. Let’s hope Mike Leake can give the Reds some momentum heading into the weekend series in Cleveland.
