Louisville 2 – Lehigh Valley 1; final 16

Despite playing 16 innings, the Bats still managed only 7 hits and were led by Chris Burke’s 2-7 game and Yonder Alonso’s 2-6 performance.  Both scored a run.  Burke had a triple and scored the go ahead and winning run in the 16th inning while Alonso homered in the 4th inning, his first for Louisville since being called up.

As mentioned above, Travis Wood pitched outstanding.  At the same time, the Bats bullpen wasn’t too shabby either.  Four different relievers combined to pitch 8 shutout innings, allowing 7 hits and 3 walks while striking out 8.  Thus, Bats pitching tallied 19 strikeouts in the 16 inning game.  Conversely, Bats hitters struck out 16 times, adding up to 37 combined strikeouts in the game.  WOW!


Jacksonville 4 – Carolina 3; final 7

Eric Eymann had 2 of the Mudcats 4 hits in the game and drove in 1 of the Mudcats RBIs in the loss.  Eymann was 2-3 with a double and a run scored.

Jeremy Horst pitched 3 innings of relief, allowing 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 7.

Carolina 3 – Jacksonville 2; final 8

Sean Henry went 2-3 with a double and a homerun.  Henry scored  a run and drove in a run. Dave Sappelt went 2-2 with a double and a run scored while Chris Denove went 2-3 with a double and an rbi.

Lynchburg 5 – Wilmington 1; final 7

Josh Fellhauer homered and had a single in a 2-2 game.  Fellhauer also drove in 2 runs and scored a pair.  Neftali Soto added 2 singles in 3 at-bats while Cody Puckett homered and walked in a 1-2 game.

Curtis Partch allowed 1 run on 6 hits while striking out 3 in 6 innings of work to get the win and improve to 2-3 on the season.

Wilmington 5 – Lynchburg 4; final 7

For the third consecutive start, Bradley Boxberger has had a sub-par performance on the mound.  In this loss, Boxberger allowed 3 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks in 4 innings pitched.  He struck out 2.  In his last 3 starts, Bradley has gone a combined 12.2 innings pitched and has allowed 9 earned runs.


Lansing 6 – Dayton 3

Frank Pfister went 3-4 with 3 singles and an rbi.

J.C. Sulbaran allowed 4 runs though only 1 was earned.  These 4 runs were scored via 5 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings pitched.
