Cozart’s play, along with Valaika hitting again and Frazier’s ability to play all over the place really gives me some confidence we can remodel the infield the next couple years.

@GRF: No question.. I think Valaika’s off year last year was an aborition and this year is more indicative of his abilities.

Sean Henry (and probably Chris Denove) needs to be in Louisville.

@GRF: When I went on Tuesday night, the infield was brilliant defensively. Frazier made at least 3-4 very nice plays at third, Valaika made a couple of good ones at second, and Cozart made a couple of outstanding plays at short. There is no doubt those guys are valuable and could make a good infield.

I see that Soto was catching for Lynchburg last night. Anyone know how his development is coming along from his moving from 3B to C?

I was afraid Dorn had hurt his hand when he came out of the game on Tuesday. I told my dad at that time, I hope it isn’t broken because he will be out 4-6 weeks and it will zap his power. I feel bad for Danny, I really like guy.

I’m sorry to see Dorn go down with an injury. He was one of my favorite “underdogs” to root for and he was having a great year.

You’ve got to think Donnie Joseph isn’t sticking around in Dayton much longer. 60 K in 37.1 innings with just 21 hits against. He still needs to cut down on the bb’s (2bb in 11.1 April innings and 4 in 5.1 May innings.)

Chris Valaika’s 0-fer snapped my modest 5-game streak on’s beat the streak contest. I’ve been picking a different Reds minor leaguer each day, but I can’t make it past 5 consecutive days.

The Reds promoted Yonder Alonso to AAA to take Dorn’s roster spot. The Enquirer has a few quotes from Terry Reynolds:

Alonso will get the majority of his playing time in left field.

“Same as Carolina,” Reynolds said. “He’ll play some first but mostly left.”

Reynolds said Alonso been solid in the outfield.

“He catches everything that’s to him,” Reynolds said. “His arm is fine out there. He’s worked hard at it.”
