Another very good outing for Matt..lowered his ERA to less than 2, his WHIP drops to 1.16 and his record is 1-2. Threw over 90 pitches again last night….but with 8 strikeouts. Yet, the Reds have a 36 year old starter at AAA who’s had 3 starts and an 8.16 ERA and a WHIP of 2.16, by far the worst pitcher on their staff.

And yes, I’m prejudice in Matt’s favor.

You’re right. With all the good SP prospects we have, there is no reason to keep Lehr around for a spot start. They won’t be able to keep Klinker in AA for long pitching like this. I’d like to see Chapman, Wood, Maloney, and Klinker as the first four in AAA. With either LeCure or Jukich taking the final spot.

Wow…Merasco has been a pleasant surprise this year. It sure would be nice to see him platooning with Hanigan in 2012.

I think that’s a bit optimistic, but the progress thus far this year is a good sign. But remember, he is repeating a level and is playing in more of a hitter’s league (I’m guessing on this part). But his defensive skills are improving and if he can hit at a decent level, he’ll advance.
