AAA

Louisville 3, Toledo 1

24 year-old Chris Valaika (3rd Rd – 2006) went 3 for 4 with a 2B, R, and an RBI. The second baseman has started his 5th professional season on fire, hitting .375/.395/.550 in 40 ABs.  Last year in AAA, Valaika hit just .235/.271/.344.

26 year-old Matt Maloney (Phillies 3rd Rd – 2005) tossed 5 innings giving up just a R, on 4 H and 0 BB while striking out 7.  In his 3 starts, Matt has a 2.16 ERA with 22Ks in 16.2 innings….that will get it done!

26 year-old Carlos Fisher (11th Rd – 2005) continued his strong pitching, throwing another scoreless inning with 2 Ks.  In 8 innings this year, he has given up just one hit and one walk, while striking out 8.

Game 1 Salem 9, Lynchburg 1

Lynchburg struggled against Salem in game one with only one hit.  I am going to highlight 21 year-old Devin Mesoraco (1st Rd – 2007) since he did knock in a run.  Mesoraco might finally be hitting his stride; he is hitting (.303/.368/.545) this year.

Game 2 Salem 5, Lynchburg 2

21 year-old Brad Boxberger (Supplement Rd. 1 – 2009) threw 4 innings, giving up an ER, 6 H, and a BB.  In his first 14 professional innings, he has 17 Ks and a 1.93 ERA.

Dayton 5, West Michgan 2 

20 year-old J.C. Sulbaran (30th Rd – 2008) tossed 6 very strong innings, giving up just 1 ER, 4 H, and 1 BB while striking out 8.  J.C. now has a a 3.94 ERA with 16 Ks in 16 IP.

23 year-old third baseman Frank Pfister (17th Rd- 2008) went 2 for 4 with a 2B, and 2 RBI.  Pfister, in his 3rd pro season, has struggled so far hitting just (.242/.279/.312)
