Chris Heisey’s 3-run homerun in the 5th inning broke open a scoreless tie and led the Bats to victory. Heisey went 2-5 in the game with 4 rbis and his 3rd homerun of the season.  Corky Miller, Zack Cozart, and Chris Valaika had 2 hits each and the trio combined to score 3 runs and drive in 4 rbis.
Sam LeCure made his best start of the season yesterday against Columbus. LeCure pitched 8 shutout innings, surrendering 2 hits, walking none, and striking out 9. Sam improved to 2-0 on the season and now posts a 2.08 ERA in 17.1 innings pitched in 3 starts.

Redleg Nation Spotlight Player Matt Klinker had his longest outing of the season yesterday against the Smokies when he went 7 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits and 1 walk while striking out 3. Matt received little offensive support and left the game tied at 1-1. Matt remains 1-1 on the season with a 2.04 ERA in 17.2 innings pitched.ÂÂ
Denis Phipps went 2-3 and supplied 2 of the 3 Mudcats’ hits in the loss.

Josh Fellhauer (7th round, 2009), Dave Sappelt (9th round, 2008), and Jose Gualdron (non-drafted free agent) each went 3-5 on a night in which the Hillcats pounded out 17 hits. Fellhauer stole a base, scored a run, and drove in a run. Sappelt added a double, 2 runs scored, and 2 rbis. All three of Gualdron’s hits were singled and he drove in a run. Cody Puckett went 2-4 with 2 doubles, 2 runs scored, an rbi, and a stolen base.
